this is one of the only pieces I’ve read on here that comes the closest to describing what a depressive episode is like. thank you for this, and if it’s any consolation, I’ve been in the place you are many times for many years & it does, in fact, get better, though I know it feels like it never will. being able to grasp even a little bit of a hope is all it takes. sending lots of love <3
this comment means so much to me! i completely agree with everything you said (i'll never forget black & white tumblr, it haunts my nightmares) but yes, it all is such an endless cycle. i definitely recommend reading the bell jar! its one of my favorite books because of the hope presented amid all of the sadness. your point about people celebrated as tortured artists is so true to me. thank you so much for reading <3
i hope you find little things to eat in every corner and turn of your life 🙌🏽
thank you 💌 and thank you for reading!

Such a vivid portrayal of what depression feels like. I’m new to Substack and yours is one of the first newsletters I followed. My first piece is about depression too https://open.substack.com/pub/sophiewebb/p/lost-days-and-hello?r=1lwr6m&utm_medium=ios
